Step 1 - Open your First Financial Northwest Operated by Global Credit Union Checking account.
Stop in our lobby and visit with our Personal Banking Consultants, or go online to to open your account. When it is open, you’ll need to make a note of your account number and First Financial Northwest Operated by Global Credit Union’s routing number. They’ll come in handy later.

Step 2 - Stop using your old account.
Let all your checks or payments clear. This could take up to 10 days. To pass the time, we can help you destroy & shred any unused checks, ATM and debit cards and deposit slips.

Step 3 - Change direct deposits.
Complete the Direct Deposit form(s) we have provided and give it to your employer, the Social Security Administration or your retirement plan. You may need to include a new deposit slip or voided check.

Step 4 - Change automatic payments.
Use the forms we have provided to change all automatic withdrawals or automated payment services. Don’t forget about those that use your old debit card number, such as automatic payments made online.

Step 5 - Close your old account.
Here’s the day you’ve been waiting for. Send the enclosed form to close your old account. No face-to-face confrontation needed. If, after all your checks have cleared, you have a remaining balance, your old bank will send closing payment. It’s as simple as that.
