With rising fuel prices across the nation, Visa is raising the preauthorization amount for fuel purchases from $125.00 (current amount) to $175.00 (new amount).
What does this mean for you?
Starting on or around June 30th, when using your Visa debit or credit card at most gas stations, the gas station will place an authorization hold of $175.00. You will then fill your tank as you normally would, and be charged for the actual cost of the fuel purchased; the authorization hold will be released as soon as the purchase transaction posts to your account. Also, if you need more than $175.00 to fill your tank, you will need to obtain another authorization.
